They’re the love-struck royal couple who are about to say ‘I do’ in just 18 days’ time.

However, royal biographer Andrew Morton believes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have to work hard to make their fairytale romance work as a marriage.

Speaking on Sunday Night, the author of Meghan A Hollywood Princess, said 36-year-old Meghan’s family past doesn’t fill him with a lot of hope.

“There’s no doubt about it. They’re both birds with a broken wing, unstable families, and … I find the one worrying thing about Meghan’s family is that on both sides, the marriages have lasted for two or three years, then they’ve split up,” he said.

“So, marriage and abandonment are part of family lore, and with this family, she’s got to make a real go of it.

“There’s no walking away.”

Meghan’s mother, Doria, and her father, Thomas Markle, divorced when she was young, as did Prince Harry’s parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

Meghan herself has already been married, tying the knot with producer Trevor Engelson in 2011.

Their love story began in 2004, when they crossed paths at Northwestern University in Illinois, where they were both studying.

Seven years later, the pair took the plunge and tied the knot in a romantic ceremony at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

But, fast-forward just two years after they said ‘I do’, and the pair had gone their separate ways, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ on their divorce papers.

Trevor is now a 41-year-old executive film producer and manager who lives in LA.

Andrew Morton also referenced something he calls the ‘Meghan chill’ in his interview with Sunday Night, claiming that she has simply let go of friends when her career has progressed.

“There’s no time for faux friendship,” he said.
