Rosie O’Donnell says daughter Chelsea has been arrested again 'after being bailed out by her birth mother'
"We all hope she is able to get the help she needs to turn her life around."
Rosie O'Donnell's eldest daughter, Chelsea Belle, has once again been arrested in Wisconsin.
On Nov. 18, the 27-year-old mother of four was arrested in Marinette County on five felony and four misdemeanor counts, including bail jumping, resisting or obstructing an officer, possession of methamphetamine, possession of narcotic drugs, and possession of an illegally obtained prescription, according to court records reviewed by Entertainment Weekly.
Once news of the arrest broke, O'Donnell turned to social media with her reaction.
"Yes this is true," she wrote on Tuesday of her daughter's latest arrest. "After being bailed out by her birth mother, Chelsea was arrested again - and is facing many charges related to her drug addiction. We all hope she is able to get the help she needs to turn her life around."
The charges come after Chelsea was arrested and booked into jail on Sept. 10, after police carried out a search warrant on her Marinette County home. She was released later that month after posting bond, was booked into Oconto County Jail on Oct. 11, and subsequently released on bail.
Chelsea was charged with multiple felony counts, including neglecting a child, possession of methamphetamine, and maintaining a place for drug trafficking. She was additionally charged with four misdemeanors, including disorderly conduct and possession of THC, drug paraphernalia, and illegally obtained prescription drugs. She is due in court on January 27, 2025.
Representatives for the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment.
In the wake of Chelsea's October arrest, O'Donnell shared a throwback photo of her daughter on Instagram, writing, "Chelsea is in the news today. This is a photo from a better time. Sadly this is not new for our family. Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade. We r all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease."
Days later, O'Donnell shared a TikTok update, thanking fans for their "kind words and wishes" about Chelsea.
"I appreciate that, it's very, very nice," Rosie said in the selfie-style video. "And for all the people who told me they were going through something similar with a child or spouse or a brother or a lover, thank you for making me feel less alone."
She added, "I think it's hard to be a public person sometimes and it's hard for the children of those public people. But, you know, it is what it is in the culture today."
O'Donnell and her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter adopted Chelsea when she was a baby, raising her until 2015, when the 17-year-old ran away from home, only to be found a week later with her then-boyfriend. That year, she moved to Wisconsin to live with her birth mother. Afterwards, O'Donnell was estranged from her daughter until they reconnected in 2018, amid Chelsea's pregnancy with her first child.
O'Donnell is a mother to five children: Parker, 29; Chelsea, 27; Blake, 24; Vivienne, 21; and Dakota, 11.
