Yahoo Lifestyle 'The Rookie' Has Fans' Hearts Pumping at Chenford in Season 7 Preview
The Rookie season 7 is finally here, and fans almost missed how the show gave a first look at what's to come.
The hit ABC drama is set to air its season 7 premiere on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, and fans are ready to see their favorite first responders back protecting the streets of Los Angeles. But during the holiday season, the show decided they'd give fans the ultimate present.
Posting a season 7 teaser trailer on Instagram on December 23, viewers got to see fan-favorite couple Lucy Chen (Melissa O'Neil) and Tim Bradford (Eric Winter)'s romance seemingly heat up once again after they broke up back in season 6. What's more, The Rookie's social team played into fans' obsession over the duo with the most relatable caption.
"Not shown: Me. Screaming. Until January 7. #TheRookie," the team wrote alongside the snippet.
Given how The Rookie fans adore Chen and Bradford (affectionately referred to as "Chenford"), seeing things seemingly heat up in the romance department had commenters in a tizzy.
"This just healed my Chenford heart but made the wait feel even longer 😭," one person wrote. "Messy Chenford is one hell of a promo 🔥," another declared. "I don’t know how to contain all the excitement I’m feeling," a different follower added.
Um, does this mean that Chenford is officially back on track on their road to love? We aren't sure just yet. But since the two initially broke up over Tim getting himself in some trouble with folks from his past, The Rookie showrunner Alexi Hawley is hopeful that fans will love where Chen and Bradford's relationship goes entering season 7.
"You know, we really wanted to come into this season with positivity about Tim and Lucy," he told TV Insider on January 2. "Obviously they did do a lot of work, Tim especially, at the end of last season. It did feel like they were coming back together in a way that was at least positive, so it was important to roll into this season going, 'OK, we’re onto the next chapter — what does that look like?'"
Well, count us in when The Rookie comes back to our TV screens tonight!
