Rod Stewart Celebrates 80th Birthday with Ronnie Wood at Surprise Party Thrown by Wife Penny Lancaster: 'Fun Night'

Rod Stewart is celebrating his 80th birthday with a familiar face: longtime pal and Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood!

Just over a week after marking his milestone birthday on Jan. 10, Stewart stepped out with Wood and their wives for a glamorous night, which the Rolling Stones rocker commemorated on social media.

“🥳😎🎂Really fun night celebrating Rod’s 80th!,” Wood, 77, captioned an Instagram post that featured him and Wood posing with wives Sally Wood and Penny Lancaster.

The musician also shared a video of him and Stewart laughing together, as well as a photo of the “Maggie May” singer proudly rocking a green and white “Birthday Bhoy” button, which included the logo of his favorite soccer team, Celtic F.C. Wood’s Instagram Stories were soundtracked by Stewart’s 1972 hit “You Wear It Well.”

In a post of her own, Sally, 47, revealed that the special occasion was actually a surprise party on Jan. 18 organized for Stewart by Lancaster, 53, whom he married in 2007.

“Last night with @sirrodstewart @penny.lancaster @ronniewood celebrating Sir Rod’s 80th birthday ~ the most beautiful night. Thank you @penny.lancaster for being the best surprise party organiser ever, we love you both 💕🎂🎁🎈🎂🥳,” she captioned her post.

Other attendees at the shindig included British TV host and bandleader Jools Holland, with whom Stewart released the 2024 collaborative album Swing Fever.

Stewart, who is set to play the Glastonbury music festival in June, and Wood are longtime friends who play together in Faces. Though the group hasn’t released a new album since 1973, Stewart said in a recent interview that the group has talked about recording new music.

The Grammy winner marked his birthday with an Instagram post that featured a series of throwback photos of himself.

“Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes – 80 years young! 🥂,” he captioned his post. “What an incredible journey it’s been – from unforgettable moments on and off the stage to earning some truly special honors along the way. But above all, my greatest joy has always been performing for you. Cheers to the memories we’ve made and the ones still to come! #80YearsOfRod”

Wood also shared a number of photos of him with the star, captioning his post, “Happy 80th birthday @sirrodstewart! My lifelong pal is having a big birthday today! Please join me in wishing him a wonderful day 😎❤️”

Lancaster, meanwhile, called Stewart her “darling,” and wrote she was “so blessed to be sharing this day together with all our kids. Building more memories to carry with us into the future and to be held close to our hearts forever, I love you xx.”
