The “Angels” singer married his wife, Ayda Field Williams, in 2010
Popstar Robbie Williams found love when he was least expecting it — 20 minutes after meeting his now wife of over a decade, Ayda Field Williams.
The couple married on Aug. 7, 2010, and welcomed four kids since: Theodora “Teddy” Rose, Charlton “Charlie” Valentine, Colette “Coco” Josephine and Beau Benedict Enthoven. Robbie has been open about his love for his wife, sharing in a December 2020 interview on The Jonathan Ross Show he was grateful to her for where he is today.
"I look back at 15 years of being with my wife and I'm like 'Yeah she did, she saved my life,' " Robbie said. "She gave me a life, and here I am on the telly getting emotional."
Now, Robbie's journey of how he became a star has been adapted into a biopic, Better Man, which released in theaters on Jan. 17.
So who is Robbie Williams’ wife? Here’s everything to know about Ayda Field Williams and her relationship with the singer.
She’s from Los Angeles
Robbie is from Stoke-on-Trent, England, while his wife is from Los Angeles. She grew up in Southern California with her mom, stepfather and younger brother.
“I’m from L.A., and I consider L.A. home,” Ayda told blogger and podcaster Giovanna Fletcher during an October 2022 episode of her Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast. “We spend a good amount of time there.”
She’s an actress
After taking acting classes and spending some time as a stand-up comedian, Ayda started to work jobs as an actress. One of her first roles was in the comedy-drama series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
“I was finally at that place where I was getting offered stuff instead of having to audition for it, which is a huge moment because you hustle so much," she told The Times in November 2023 of the start of her career.
Since her first role, she has appeared in shows such as Will & Grace, Fresh Meat, 2 Broke Girls and Days of Our Lives.
Ayda and Robbie met on a blind date
Ayda and Robbie were first set up on a blind date by a mutual friend in 2007, when the singer had “fallen slightly off the wagon," Ayda told The Times.
“Was it love at first sight with you two?” Loose Women co-host Kaye Adams asked the couple during an appearance on the British talk show in November 2019.
“It wasn’t, and then it was,” the “Rock DJ” singer said. “It was love at, like, 20 minutes later.”
Ayda went on to say that the first time they met was “incredibly awkward and weird” until they shared a "moment on the couch."
“I had that ‘Oh my God, did you just feel that?’ but I thought if I said that [Robbie would] run for the hills.”
Nodding, the award-winning singer said, “Which would have been correct,” before he added that he had also felt something at that moment — like he’d known his future wife forever and that there was something in the universe telling him that she was the one.
She and Robbie married in 2010
On Aug. 7, 2010, the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at their L.A. home. They kept the wedding a secret from the majority of the guests, flying their family members in under the guise of a James Bond Casino Royale party, per Hello!.
Clips from the wedding were later featured in the music video for Robbie’s song “Soul Transmission.”
"Ayda looked like the most beautiful girl in the world," he told Hello! at the time. "The setting was so magical, and to be surrounded by family and close friends and then see Ayda appear looking so radiant was almost too much for me to take."
He continued, "When I walked down the aisle with our dogs and heard everyone cheering it made me so emotional I'm surprised I held it together. I'm the happiest man alive."
The two renewed their wedding vows in 2024 during a heartfelt ceremony with their friends and family present.
She and Robbie share four kids
Proud parents, the husband and wife share four kids: daughters Theodora “Teddy” Rose and Colette “Coco” Josephine, and sons Charlton “Charlie” Valentine and Beau Benedict Enthoven.
Teddy, who was born in September 2012, made her public debut in October 2018, when she was a bridesmaid alongside Princess Charlotte at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding.
Her younger brother, Charlie was welcomed into the world in October 2014, with his rockstar dad singing “Let It Go” from Disney’s Frozen as Ayda was in labor.
The couple's younger two children, Coco and Beau, were both born via surrogate, in 2018 and 2020, respectively. Robbie and Ayda kept the news that they were expecting private due to the "long and difficult path" it took to expand their family, Ayda wrote in her announcement of Coco's birth.
She was a judge on The X Factor U.K.
The Los Angeles native served as a judge on the 2018 season of The X Factor U.K. alongside Simon Cowell, Louis Tomlinson and her husband.
After receiving criticism for taking on the role, Ayda defended her position during a December 2018 press conference.
“I want to help someone achieve their dreams, so whatever someone wants to say, that makes it more exciting because if it wasn’t a challenge it wouldn’t be much fun,” she said, per Radio Times. "So I’m excited to be the underdog and show the boys how it’s done.”
She helps decide what songs make Robbie’s albums
Ayda helps her musician husband decide which songs should go on his albums while the two share a bubble bath and listen to all of the contenders, they shared on Loose Women in November 2016.
They commenced the process for Robbie's 11th studio album, The Heavy Entertainment Show, where the song choices were going well until they reached the fifth track — which he had written for her. But, as it turned out, Ayda wasn’t too fond of the song.
“She went, ‘No, I don’t think so,’ ” he said, explaining that she thought it shouldn’t be put on the album. “I’m the only one in this bath that notices that that’s not cool.”
Robbie said that Cameron Diaz helped save their relationship early on
While their marriage is now stronger than ever, the couple went through a rocky patch at one point. However, it was Cameron Diaz that set them on the right path again.
A few years before they got married, the two went on a break, Robbie shared in an August 2020 episode of their podcast (Staying) At Home With The Williamses. It was during a conversation with Diaz and Drew Barrymore that he said he had a sense of clarity.
“I’m floating around and we had split up and I was chatting away with people and I had started to chat with Drew and Cameron," he explained. "I started to espouse about this brilliant person that I had just ended a relationship with and there were all of these words coming out of my mouth about how incredible you were, how beautiful, smart, funny."
It was then when Diaz gave the singer some advice that changed the game for Robbie. "And Cameron Diaz said, ‘It doesn’t sound like that one’s over’ and in that moment the universe went, ‘Go to Ayda, be with her, marry her,' " he revealed.
