This Reimagined 1940s Spanish Bungalow in L.A. Can Be Yours for $5.7 Million
Southern California has no shortage of Spanish-style homes owned by Hollywood stars, but a pair of celebrity-favored designers have breathed new life into this charming 1940s dwelling in a sought-after area of Los Angeles. Amanda Leigh and Taylor Hahn, founders and principals of House of Rolison, snapped up the vintage residence in the exclusive Bird Streets enclave earlier this year and have now hoisted the reimagined spread onto the market for $5.7 million with Farrah Brittany of The Agency and Netflix’s Buying Beverly Hills.
Over the years, the developer duo has become well-known for restoring a slew of historic homes in the area, including a 100-year-old estate in Bel Air that was purchased by K-pop star Lisa from Blackpink and a renovated Hollywood Hills retreat owned by Sabrina Carpenter.

For their latest project at 1427 Bluebird Avenue, the two shelled out $2.9 million for the nearly 3,900-square-foot digs back in March, records show. They’ve now flipped the four-bedroom, five-bath pad some eight months later after putting plenty of work into the revamp with the assistance of Olive Ateliers.
Retaining the home’s original character was a core part of the design brief, in addition to infusing it with the firm’s signature style. To achieve that old-world feel, Leigh and Hahn chose to mix rich hues with warm white oak and bold natural stones to lend an earthy and organic vibe. For example, you’ll find bold splashes of Calacatta Viola marble throughout, from the countertops to a bar area and in the bathroom. Plus, see if you can spot the green marble door handles from Emtek.
Past the cozy wood-paneled entry, there’s a striking chef’s kitchen equipped with a swanky La Cornue range and a custom built-in breakfast nook. From here, you can step into the living room, which is super bright and airy thanks to a skylight. French doors on either side of the gas fireplace provide access to the backyard. Upstairs, the primary suite holds its own with a spacious sitting area and a private balcony overlooking a water fountain down below. A fireplace and a vaulted wood-beamed ceiling add a sense of warmth and coziness.
While the house itself is dreamy, the outside spaces are equally considered. Here, the lush grounds are decked out with a fire pit, a heated plunge pool adorned with Zellige tile, and a Sonos surround sound system. “1427 Bluebird Ave is more than a residence,” notes the listing. “It’s a dreamscape, blending elegance, warmth, and the timeless allure of a faraway retreat.”
