Regular Fox Contributor Dr. Kelly Powers Dead at 45
Dr. Kelly Powers, a surgeon who often appeared on Fox News programs like Fox & Friends, Red Eye, and The Willis Report, has died. She was just 45.
The television personality passed away on Sunday, Dec. 1, after a years-long battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer.
In a GoFundMe fundraiser created to assist with her treatment, friends of the commentator shared that she was diagnosed with "one of the deadliest forms of brain cancer, Glioblastoma," in 2020.
She underwent "three brain surgeries, multiple rounds of radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy" which sent her into remission, but "the cancer returned this year."
"Conventional" treatments were "no longer effective" on the cancer and Powers was accepted into a "groundbreaking and innovative" treatment program in Germany that was not covered by insurance, with the GoFundMe raising nearly $90,000 to help.
Her obituary called her "a brave and beautiful soul who could make friends anywhere she went," and also drew attention to her "many hobbies," which included "gardening, surfing, ballet, biking, running, horseback riding, travel, and several more..." But, "...Most important to her was her family."
Powers is survived by her young son, Bennett, her husband, Steven Doll, and her parents. Her family requests that anyone wishing to honor Powers do so by donating to StacheStrong, a nonprofit "devoted to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research." Fans can also plant a tree in her memory.
