Yahoo Lifestyle All About ‘Red Ones,’ aka Your Soon-To-Be Favorite Holiday Classic
In the event you’re the kind of person who (1) blasts “All I Want For Christmas Is You” as soon as the clock strikes 12 am on November 1 (guilty), and (2) can quote pretty much every single Deadpool movie from start to finish (also guilty, sorry mom!), chances are you’re gonna love the action-packed holiday film Red One.
According to a convo director Jake Kasdan had with Entertainment Weekly, the film first began to take shape after Dwayne Johnson called him up and relayed that his producing partner Hiram Garcia had the idea for a “wild Christmas action movie that takes place partly in the world as we know it, and then partly in this mythological realm.” Ngl, we’d be intrigued to hear him out too lol.
Of teaming up with the iconic actor, Kasdan gushed, “I believe that he’s a singular film presence. And if it’s the exact right thing for him, then he’s able to do things that really nobody else can do, and you can’t picture anyone else in a part that he’s played.”
And the rest is, how you say, history! How-ev-er (!!!), that’s not to say making the project didn’t come without its challenges. According to Kasdan, it was important for Red One to deliver on multiple fronts—aka being both action- and festive-packed. “You don’t do this if you don't love Christmas movies,” the director confessed. “So a big part of it was trying to figure out how to bring in all of those Christmas elements, even in this slightly edgier, more aggressive kind of action-comedy and let them resonate on their own.”
