'Disappointed': Rebel Wilson under fire for luxe Super Bowl trip

Rebel Wilson has come under fire from 'disappointed' fans, after sharing her luxurious trip to watch the Super Bowl LV in Florida during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The 40-year-old flew from LA to Tampa in a private jet with five friends, before enjoying the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win over the Kansas City Chiefs from a box at the stadium.

While Rebel was picture wearing a mask the majority of the time, unless she was seated with her 'bubble' of friends, many of her fans suggested she had lost an opportunity to "influence positive covid safe messages".

"I'm disappointed to see that you're not setting an example for your followers," one person commented on one of her photos from the day.

"There shouldn't be parties, we're still in a pandemic. Thousands of people are dying every day."

And there were plenty of others who agreed.

"Eh... pandemic? Guess you think you’re above the WHO recommendations," was another response.

"A real opportunity lost to influence positive covid safe messages," another person said.

While a third wrote: "Have fun at the Super Spreader!"

Safety procedures for the game saw crowd attendance capped at 25,000, instead of the 60,000 that watched the NFL's biggest game in person last year.

An executive order is currently still in place in Tampa, after Mayor Jane Castor said masks must be worn in most of the city's popular destinations until February 13, which Rebel stuck to.

There were however also plenty of the Pitch Perfect star's followers who had no problem with her being there for the big event.

"So glad you’re there and sharing with us," was one comment.

"Welcome to Tampa!! Hope you enjoy your time here," another wrote, while a third added: "Welcome to my home! I wished I could afford to be at the Super Bowl."
