Rebecca Ferguson has starred opposite Tom Cruise and Hugh Jackman, but her leading man off-screen is her husband, Rory St. Clair Gainer.
The couple reportedly began dating in 2016. The Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One star and Gainer went on to secretly tie the knot, which Ferguson revealed to Extra in early 2019.
“We live in a society where it’s kind of forced on us,” she later told Town & Country of marriage in 2023.
While Gainer is not in the spotlight, Ferguson has spoken about her husband, calling him “that extremely handsome man” during an interview on Reign with Josh Smith in 2024. The couple have also expanded their family, welcoming a daughter in 2018.
So who is Rebecca Ferguson’s husband? Here is everything to know about Rory St. Clair Gainer and his relationship with the Swedish actress.
He and Ferguson had a “country weekend wedding”
During an interview with Extra in January 2019, Ferguson revealed that she got married over the holidays. “I think we both wanted to step over all thresholds. Also, I’m not very religious. I believe in love,” Ferguson said. “It was more for us and our family.”
The Greatest Showman actress shared that they rented a cottage for their big day, which included their friends and family, as well as plenty of games, and rather than wearing a dress, the “practical” bride wore a skirt.
Ferguson described her wedding on The Late Late Show with James Corden as a “country weekend wedding.”
He and Ferguson share a daughter
The couple have a daughter. A rep for the Dune star confirmed to PEOPLE in July 2018 that Ferguson and Gainer had recently welcomed their first child together. The pair’s little girl even attended their wedding ceremony.
Ferguson was spotted with her then-newborn daughter in Paris ahead of the premiere of Mission: Impossible — Fallout.
He is also a stepfather
When Gainer married Ferguson, he became a stepfather to the Men in Black: International actress’ son Isaac.
Ferguson shares Isaac with her ex-boyfriend Ludwig Hallberg. The Silo star revealed to Extra in 2019 that her son gave her and Gainer the rings at their wedding.
His daughter confused Timothée Chalamet for him
Ferguson’s daughter once mistook Timothée Chalamet for her father while she and Gainer were shopping on Valentine’s Day.
Recounting the moment in an interview with U105 Radio, Ferguson shared, "She goes up to a card and she goes, 'This is perfect for mummy.' It's a picture of Timothée [Chalamet], who she thought was her dad because it looks like my husband. And it says, 'Will you Wonka my Willy?' "
"But she doesn't get it. She's like, 'Oh it's Willy Wonka! Willy Wonka, my Willy dad!' Like, no," Ferguson added with a laugh.
He accessorized one of Ferguson’s red carpet looks
Gainer contributed to his wife’s “gothic” red carpet look for the New York premiere of Dune: Part Two in February 2024. The Swedish actress’ husband picked up a stack of dog chains from a local pet store, which she wore with her ensemble from Olivier Theyskens.
“I’m more gothic. I’m edgy. I’m Scandi,” Ferguson told Harper's Bazaar . “I’m not fluffy and, you know, bridelike. That’s just not me.”
He’s a supportive husband
Gainer accompanied his wife to an event for Dune during the 78th Venice International Film Festival in September 2021.
At the time, the B Agency - Event Planning Company shared a picture of Ferguson, dressed in Dior, posing alongside her husband. He was also photographed cozying up next to the actress in Paris at the Mission: Impossible - Fallout premiere in 2018.
He and Ferguson are a competitive couple
The Doctor Sleep actress and her husband are competitive with each other.
Speaking to Extra in 2019, Ferguson admitted, “We are [competitive], but in the most loving way.”
