Reba McEntire Calls Her Son "a Blessing" in Heartfelt Photo Post
Reba McEntire is taking things all the way back, and she's doing it for a reason fans will melt over.
The country singer loves to share throwback moments of her career over the years — but it's rare for her to showcase her family. Well, she decided to break her unspoken rule for her son Shelby Blackstock (whom she shares with ex-husband Narvel Blackstock)'s 35th birthday, and she shared a sweet video montage of a photoshoot the duo did back in the day. As folks watched a young Reba and Shelby ham it up for the camera, the Happy's Place star couldn't help but get affectionate about how special the two's bond is to her.
"One of the greatest blessings God has given me," she wrote on Instagram on February 23. "I love you with all my heart, Shelby."
When folks caught wind of Reba walking down memory lane in order to celebrate Shelby's special day, they immediately bombarded her with heartfelt messages in the comments.
"Mama and her boy and light of her life!! Blessed are you both!!! 🥰," one person affectionately wrote. "Aww Shelby doo!!! Happy birthday 🎉 here’s to many more!! ❤️," another exclaimed. "Happy Birthday @shelbyblackstock the time sure has flown by. I hope you had an amazing day celebrating your special day ❤️❤️❤️❤️," a different follower added.
Well, this is such a sweet way to celebrate family love! And for those aren't familiar with Reba's son, Shelby is an accomplished race car driver whose been in the industry since at least 2010. He married his wife Marissa Branch in 2022, and the two currently reside in Nashville, per People.
Speaking to the outlet in October 2022 about her bond with Shelby, Reba shared how his presence in her life has made her a better person today.
"Shelby is a gift from God to me," she said at the time. "We're very close. I was a very self-centered person to a degree before Shelby. But then there's a little character who you are given the job to protect and nurture and love and teach, so all the attention's not on you anymore."
Happy birthday, Shelby!
