“There isn’t really an easy way to say this, but last week I went to a dermatologist just to get my skin checked and they found some skin cancer on me.”

While he did not reveal what type of skin cancer he has, or what treatment he will recieve, he said he was “going to be all good”.

He urged his followers to get their skin checked, to be sun-safe and to wear sunscreen.

“If you’re a freckly little frog like me, go get a mole map and get your body checked, because you never know,” he said.

“I had this on my shoulder for like a year or two, I had no idea...

“Go get your skin checked, wear your sunscreen and a be a little bit more responsible because that’s what I’ve got to do now, and it’s very scary.”

Cancer Council recommends becoming familiar with your skin, including skin not normally exposed to the sun, and visiting your doctor straight away if you notice any change in size, shape or colour of a spot, or development of a new spot.

For most Australians, regular skin checks aren’t recommended because there is no evidence they save lives from the disease.

If you are at high risk (have been diagnosed with skin cancer, have a family history, have a history of bad sunburns, or have used solariums) speak to your doctor about developing a surveillance plan.

Many doctors bulk bill for a skin checks others charge up to $185 for a full body check with the Medicare rebate covering only between $38-$61 of that fee.
