Real talk: This is the best concealer hack we’ve come across
Makeup trends are so fast paced. Whereas once we embraced the more-is-more approach with full-coverage foundation and over-lined lips, lately, we've jumped onto food-related trends, inspired by a glazed donut or black cherry. It's fair to say the beauty industry loves to hype up a trend, but if there's one makeup artist whose approach is always timeless, it's Lisa Eldridge.
Those who have followed Lisa’s career will know that she coined the technique of "pinpoint concealing", helping us to master the art of no-makeup-makeup. "Pinpoint concealing is all about precisely concealing the areas you feel are absolutely necessary to camouflage, moving focus to the skin in between your problem areas. It allows the natural beauty of your skin to shine through," she tells Cosmopolitan UK.
For a while, Lisa used the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer to pinpoint conceal, but now she has created her own tool designed for meticulous work. Enter: the Pinpoint Concealer Micro Correcting Pencil.

The Pinpoint Concealer is incredibly unique and something yet-to-be seen in the beauty space. "Yes, this is a new category of concealer – inspired by precision, waterproof, long-wearing, dense gel eyeliners – it enables you to completely camouflage," Lisa tells us.
When we look at some of the most innovative launches that have revolutionised the makeup industry, many of them have been created by professional makeup artists. They directly understand common struggles when applying makeup and create products as a solution. "One of my primary goals is to create practical tools that will allow my community to experience the same results as if they were sitting in my makeup chair," says Lisa.
This unique launch is not to say we've never seen other concealer pencils in the market, but what sets this apart is the titchy tip and one-of-a-kind formula. "The 1.5 mm tip allows for the ultimate, targeted application, and effortless makeup microdosing! This wasn’t available on the market… until now! I created the formula to be so blurring and camouflaging. It’s creamy enough to blend and it sets down to a waterproof finish – great for the gym!" she adds.
How to use the concealer pencil:
The Pinpoint Concealer is designed for precise work so the less product you use, the better. "Take your Pinpoint Concealer Pencil and scribble softly over, on and around the micro area you wish to camouflage," advises Lisa.
She also stresses the importance of scribbling over the area instead of applying the concealer in a circle to ensure the finish looks seamless. "The trick is to thin out the edges so it blends in with the surrounding skin, and for everything to look like it’s in one, seamless continuum. You want to cheat the eye away from thinking anything has been concealed," she adds.
To blend, Lisa advises using your fingertips or a small brush to buff the coverage over the area and to focus on the edges to make sure they're not visible.
The great thing about the Pinpoint Concealer is that you can utilise it in your routine in other ways, and not just for pinpointing. "The Pinpoint Concealer Pencil is also great for perfecting your makeup. You can use it to sculpt a clean-shaped brow or lining around the lips using the pencil will prevent your lip colour bleeding or feathering," says Lisa.
What do Cosmo’s beauty team think?
Our beauty team has been playing about with the pencil – drawing and dabbing all over the place – and it’s safe to say, they have thoughts…

I’m such a Lisa Eldridge stan that I feel like I’ve been using her pinpoint technique for donkey’s years (probs quite unsuccessfully, TBH), so to have a Lisa Eldridge product to actually use, has been great. I pinpoint conceal because day-to-day I don’t wear foundation, but this is great to still cover pesky hyperpigmentation. The chin area of my face is slightly darker and has a different undertone to my forehead and cheeks so I’ve been using shades 12 and 13 (there are 16 shades in the range).
I draw over the marks in a squiggly star shape, tap out with my finger and repeat until the mark disappears. When I’m finished with the rest of my makeup, I’ll set everything with a powder, and it honestly stays put all day. But even if things go awry (sorry but who hasn’t dribbled a bit of lunch down their chin?) The pencils are so easy to pop into any bag for handy touch-ups.

When it comes to skin concerns, you name it, I’ve got it; acne; dark spots; redness; hyperpigmentation. God really does give his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers. So, when it comes to achieving a flawless base, for me, more is more.
Don’t get me wrong, I love to embrace my imperfections, but when it comes to a full coverage concealer, I’m gonna go all in – experimental, artistic makeup is what makes me feel most confident. With that in mind, Lisa Eldridge’s latest launch had me hard judging a book by its cover… Pinpoint concealing? Me? Never.
That said, on a recent weekday morning when running late for work, I had only 15 minutes to conjure up a full beat (yes, this is a challenge for me!). Enter: Pinpoint. I opted for a one-and-done, blemish-banishing look, which, IMO, this concealer is best for. It glides on when applied, is easy to blend and provides the perfect amount of coverage.
For the days when I’m after a soft, clean girl aesthetic (aka, minimal no-makeup makeup), this is my go to. On top of a skin tint or on its own for a subtle pick me up = *chef’s kiss*

As soon as I saw the Pinpoint Concealer, I knew it would be a bit of me – but (plot twist!) not in the way it was designed to be used. I’m all for Lisa’s pinpointing technique; however, for the longest time I’ve been looking for a solution to solve all my brow-carving problems, and this is it!
Before you ask, no I don’t sculpt my arches like a 2013 Tumblr girl, but I still use concealer to add shape and a lifted look. I’ve struggled with a plump doe foot wand, but it never achieves the sharp line I desire. This here, is what I’ve been looking for as the pencil means I can sculpt my brows with ultra precision.
I draw a line underneath my arch and then use my finger to blend in the concealer (the formula is super creamy so this is a breeze). To elevate the lifted effect further, I use a shade that’s lighter than my natural skin tone so the concealer doubles as a highlighter.
So whether you’re using it to sculpt, contour or cover blemishes, I genuinely think it’s one of the most thought-through products to hit today’s shelves. A real beauty hack that I now can’t do my makeup without.
