Is there ever a day where Tyler Perry isn't busy working on a new project? Judging by the news he dropped on social media, it doesn't appear so.
Less than a month after the media mogul announced his upcoming movie The Six Triple Eight would premiere on Netflix on December 20, he announced there's more to his collaboration with the streaming site. Tyler went on Instagram to reveal a career first for him — he'll be debuting a new TV series that'll live on the platform. Titled Beauty in Black, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the series will drop in two parts this fall. What's more, the first half of Beauty in Black already has a release date of Thursday, October 24, 2024.
"My first series for @Netflix. LET'S GO!!" he wrote alongside a sneak peek trailer of the series on September 12.
When fans learned about Tyler's incredible career update, it didn't come as a surprise that they were excited to see what he has in store for them.
"Whatever @tylerperry make, I'm going to watch!! 💪🏾 🙌🏾 ❤️," one person exclaimed. "🔥 this looks fiery hot 🔥 I can't wait to watch 🙂🙂 #tylerperry 👏👏," another declared. "I know this gonna be good …. I just know," a different follower added.
So, what is Beauty in Black about? Netflix's Tudum wrote the series will star Taylor Polidore Williams and Crystle Stewart and focus on two women who live very different lives from one another. When they eventually finds their paths crossing, it causes a series of events that change the way they've known their worlds to be.
It's also important to note Beauty in Black is just one project from Tyler's overall deal with Netflix, which he secured back in February. This also includes the previously mentioned The Six Triple Eight and the thriller movie Mea Culpa, which premiered in February 2024.
