Last summer, Fat Joe finally opened up about his health in an interview with Men's Health, but it has been a long journey. The rapper weighed 470 at his heaviest, and he has lost over 200 pounds over the last decade.

Fat Joe talked about losing close friend Big Pun in 2000 at the age of 28 and telling himself, "You gotta lose weight; otherwise you outta here.”

Over the years, he dealt with other losses, depression and more, but he put in the effort and lost the weight, with his manager Rich Player saying, "Joe’s kept off his weight for almost ten years now. It didn’t happen overnight. He’s kept up this lifestyle because he wants to live."
