Queen Letizia of Spain combined unique wardrobe elements for daytime attire during a royal reception at the Madrid palace on Thursday. The royal and her husband, King Felipe VI, welcomed members of the diplomatic corps for the special occasion.

Queen Letizia wore a cornflower blue maxiskirt, which she paired with a crisp white button-down shirt. The flowy skirt featured a slightly ruffled hemline and high-waisted silhouette with subtle pleating. She paired the piece with a white button-down shirt, which featured a sharp collar and long, cuffed sleeves.

Forgoing pieces of statement jewelry, Queen Letizia opted for delicate earrings and a ring around her index finger.

As for her glam, the Spanish royal’s hair was styled with a slight side part and soft, natural waves. Her makeup included bold brows, a subtle smoky eye and a pop of color with a hint of a berry-red lip to complete her entire look.

Queen Letizia has often approached her style with a combined sense of modernity and tradition. The Spanish royal favors such designers as Mango and Carolina Herrera. Last December, Queen Letizia opted to wear a gray suited look for a royal engagement. The suit, designed by Mango, may have been a subtle sartorial homage to Isak Andic, Mango’s founder. Andic died at the age of 71 on Dec. 14, just days before Queen Letizia wore the gray Mango suit.
