Now, one of the brand’s coziest flavors is returning to shelves, just in time for the chilly winter season.

Shoppers can now find Quaker's new Hot Cocoa Instant Oatmeal on shelves where the brand is typically sold. If you’ve tried chocolate oatmeal in the past and didn’t love it, it’s worth giving this one another shot. Quaker’s Hot Cocoa Oatmeal doubles down on taste by using a blend of cocoa and semi-sweet chocolate chips to give fans the decadent hot cocoa goodness they hope for in every spoonful.

Similar to when making a chocolatey dessert like lava cakes, using cocoa powder alone can leave your chocolate goods tasting flat. Incorporating both chocolate chips and cocoa powder, however, will leave your dish balanced and full of rich chocolate flavor.

Food reviewer @Markie_Devo shared the news on Instagram and the option piqued the interest of a few fans. “Hot cocoa oatmeal?? I must try this when it’s out,” commented one user. “I've been eating more oatmeal recently so I'll be looking out for that hot cocoa one,” added another.

However, many fans are skeptical of the seasonal release. “Oatmeal and a semi-sweet lightly salted chocolate sounds okay but a hot cocoa oatmeal sounds too sweet and [like] it’d probably have a big chalky aftertaste,” said one Redditor in a recent thread.

One observant Instagram user noticed that while the box is different, the image of the oatmeal bowl looked very similar to one of the brand’s permanent offerings. “Looks exactly like the Chocolate Oatmeal packaging,” they pointed out. It’s worth adding that Quaker’s Hot Cocoa Instant Oatmeal and Chocolate Instant Oatmeal do have identical ingredient lists and nutritional information, so it’s likely the two share a similar taste. We couldn’t help but wonder—why not include mini marshmallows?
