Prue Leith Makes a Bold Statement About Which U.S. Presidential Candidate Would Be the Best in the Kitchen (Exclusive)

The Great British Baking Show judge Prue Leith has been in the competitive cooking space for decades now, but she's got a new idea for which contestants would properly spice things up for an episode of The Great Celebrity Bake-Off.

"I think I'd have Kamala Harris, Joe Biden and Donald Trump," Leith, known for her dry humor and vibrant style, exclusively told Parade.

Having three American politicians in the kitchen would certainly add a bit of flair, especially given the tenuous nature of U.S. politics ahead of the 2024 election.

As for who Leith would bet on as the best baker, her money is on the current vice president and presidential candidate.

"I think maybe Kamala Harris [would win] because she's probably been in the kitchen once or twice in her life," Leith quipped. "Whereas those two guys would never have been near one."

Leith is right about Harris's experience in the kitchen. In 2019 she appeared alongside The Mindy Project star Mindy Kaling in a YouTube video in which the pair cooked the South-Indian dish masala dosa.

In the clip, Harris diced a red onion with precision, leaving Kaling impressed. "Senator Harris, I say this with respect, but you're kind of a show off," The Office alum joked.

Meanwhile, former President Trump showed off some cooking skills of his own in recent weeks, appearing at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania where he made an attempt at frying French fries while wearing a crisp white button-down shirt and his signature red tie.

It's a move the Harris campaign criticized as merely being a photo-op, when the Vice President herself worked at McDonald's while in college, frying up French fries and serving ice cream.

"I was a student when I was working at McDonald's. There was not a family relying on me to pay the rent, put food on the table and keep the bills paid by the end of the month," Harris said in a 2019 presidential campaign speech. "But the reality of McDonald's is that a majority of folks who are working there today are relying on that income to sustain a household and a family."

While many celebrities avoid politics entirely, Leith might say that "life's too short" to skip. The Great British Baking Show judge has a new cookbook titled Life's Too Short to Stuff a Mushroom.
