Proud Frenchie Father Is Captivated By Newborn Pups and It’s the Sweetest

Newborn kids, whether human or four-legged, require constant care during their early stages of life. Although mothers are famous for it, many dads also embrace the role. While seeing canines take on this responsibility might be less common, those who do take their job seriously. And if you’ve ever wondered if they have a sense of their own children, this Frenchie father might help answer that question.

He’s the definition of a doting dad, unable to take his eyes off of his beautiful newborn pups. Watch how he looks after his precious offspring in this video shared on September 1:

Hooligan (@roseflower_frenchies) is such a loyal protector, keeping a watchful eye over his newborn kids. His human mom explains he is always gazing at them and giving them plenty of love. It’s heartwarming to see him have such a calm and curious disposition and how he kisses them so gently. He’s so in tune with their fragile state, and it’s a testament to the caring nature of this delightful breed. As these tiny puppies grow up, all this love will undoubtedly help them thrive in their new homes.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) states that Frenchies typically have an average litter size of 2 to 4 puppies, with over five being quite rare. The largest litter on record is seven. While some may give birth naturally, most need a C-section to ensure their health and safety and the well-being of their puppies. This option is commonly chosen to avoid potential complications arising from the French Bulldogs’ narrow birth canals and their puppies’ large head structure. These are consequences of breeding to achieve the flat face look, which sadly also makes breathing more difficult for them.

Pet parents weren’t surprised to see this dad showing his affection. Viewer @lollarmaggie shared, “I had a male Schnauzer that thought my Boston puppies were his. He was the best dad to all nine!” How sweet! Viewer @raybond.runt revealed, “My Chihuahua, Paco, is like that with his babies even now that they are a year old.” That’s lovely to know. One person inquired, “Do male dogs know they are their offspring?” And @roseflower_frenchies reported, “He seems to be only interested in his own. I’ll have to test it more to know for sure. The girls are interested in all of them; they think they all belong to them. It’s pretty cute.” That’s so interesting!

It’s good to know that dads also assist with their young in the canine world. As moms of every species can attest, sometimes it’s nice to have a little help!
