One professional baker was shocked when a bride assumed $50 would be enough to cover the cost of a custom three-tier wedding cake.

In a recent Reddit post, user RainbowSprinkles4 shared that they received a request for a detailed wedding cake that would ultimately require a $900 price tag. However, the bride had a different price in mind.

As requested by the bride, the cake, would include a chocolate base, a middle layer of carrot, and a top tier of strawberry, with intricate details, including fresh baby's breath and white roses in a "cascade down and around the cakes which should use that quilted technique all over as the base."

A mix of fresh flowers and sugar flowers was "acceptable" as well. But the baker wrote that the woman told her she could tell if the sugar flowers were store bought, "so I had to make them myself."

Additionally, the bride requested a small Australian Shepherd dog figurine "biting out" of the cake's base as a personal touch, as a nod to couple's pet. The cake was requested to sit atop a "sparkly acrylic stand."

When the bride, who said that she's local and wants her wedding to be a "blow-out celebration" asked what this type of cake would cost, the baker said: "she could anticipate a minimum of $850-$900."

The bride then suggested the price be just $50. RainbowSprinkles4 told the bride that she was "delusional" for assuming a large detailed cake would cost that much and noted that the flowers alone for the cake wouldn't cost $50.

The bride then said she would look elsewhere for a baker who would accommodate her budget.

The post, which has been upvoted over 2,000 times as of publication, had many commenters agreeing that the bride had unrealistic expectations.

"She is extremely delusional and probably never seen how much just a simple plain cake cost. Wonder If she comes back to you after she can't find any for 50," one user said. "When someone says 'don’t waste my time' I know they are about to waste mine," another joked.

"That literally wouldn’t cover the cost of ingredients or all the damn fresh flowers let alone the time and art of it," a third person said.

Several Redditors noted that the $50 wouldn't over even the most basic ingredients. One person shared a gif of a miniature wedding cake.

Others said that the $900 price estimate from the baker seemed low, and that the cake should cost upwards of $1,000. "$900 was too cheap for that kind of cake. It sounds like a $1500 one," a Redditor said.
