Life as a princess is often thought to be one filled with both privilege and palaces, starting from the moment each enters the line of succession.

But for one royal daughter, this perky position is in serious jeopardy after using her platform to promote an upcoming tour.

Princess Märtha Louise, whose father is King Harald of Norway, is causing controversy in her homeland after she and American beau Durek Verrett made bank to take people 'on a journey into the mysteries of life'.

Lauded as ‘The Princess and the Shaman’, the tour was centred on 'shamanic exercises and meditation’ along with tackling 'unwanted energies'.

Followers in five Danish and Norwegian cities came to see the self-described healers in action - a move which is reportedly considered a ‘catastrophe’ for the royals.

Credibility issues have also been raised for the family due to Märtha Louise’s claims she can ‘communicate with angels’.

Now, King Harald has confirmed to local media ‘arrangements’ are under way to potentially alter the princess’s ability to commercialise her title.

“At the present time, we cannot say how far we have come in the dialogue. But we are trying to get an arrangement,” Norway Today reported.

But it’s not the first time Märtha Louise has had to alter her royal role in a bid to experience more liberties.

She gave up the title of ‘Her Royal Highness’ in 2002 in order to allow her to work more freely and own a business.

This want for independence appears to have expanded since going public with Durke - who claims to be a sixth-generation healer - earlier this year.

"He has made me realise that unconditional love actually exists here on this planet. He embraces all of me without question or fear," she captioned a loved-up Instagram post about her partner.

"He makes me laugh more than anyone, has the most profound wisdom to share and all the bits in between from the diversity of his being."

The princess was previously married to author Ari Behn from 2002 to 2016 and the former couple share three daughters.
