Princess Eugenie broke royal style protocol as she made a rare joint appearance with her sister Princess Beatrice and their cousin Peter Phillips on Sunday, April 13. The princesses of York jet-setted to Bahrain for the glitzy F1 Grand Prix, making the star-studded races a family affair. Unlike her signature royal uniform of coat dresses and head-turning hats, Eugenie appeared to take style pointers from Gen Z in a casual body-con black dress dress paired with white sneakers.

Wearing her auburn hair pulled back into a messy low ponytail with face-framing pieces, Eugenie embraced a sporty chic style ethos for the Formula 1 event. She wore a short-sleeved body-hugging LBD with ruching on the stomach and a daring side slit on the right that went all the way up to her upper thigh. The princess of York, who could be seen chatting with her husband Jack Brooksbank as well as Peter Phillips (Zara Tindall’s brother), accessorized with white tennis shoes, hoop earrings, a yellow fabric bag accented with black, and a colorful F1 lanyard around her neck. She kept her beauty look simple for the outing, subtly accentuating her eyes with a smokey black eyeliner.

Meanwhile, her big sister Beatrice appeared to have coordinated with the thigh-high slit style memo. The royal, who recently gave birth to her baby daughter Athena, accompanied her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a long-sleeved cream dress covered in mocha brown geometric patterns. A thigh-high slit in the front of her dress flashed a bit of skin.

It was a rare joint outing for the sisters, who last attended the same event at the 2024 Royal Ascot. According to People, Zara and Mike Tindall were spotted at the races on Saturday, meaning it’s likely that the couples planned on watching the Bahrain Grand Prix all together.

Beatrice recently opened up about the “months of sheer worry” before the premature birth of her daughter in January. In an essay for British Vogue, the royal opened up about realizing how “lucky” she was after grappling with “uncertainty” and the “overwhelming fear of the unknown.”

Ultimately, Athena “arrived healthy, a few weeks before her due date,” Beatrice—who also shares daughter Siena Elizabeth with Mozzi—revealed, adding, “She was so tiny it took more than a few weeks for the tears of relief to dry and for life with our healthy baby to feel real. Her feet were so small—almost the same size as the paws on one of my older daughter’s soft bunnies.”
