Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Had a Sweet PDA Moment in Their Latest Video
They spoke on a cause close to their hearts.
Today, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a new video talking about a cause close to their hearts: online safety. They put on a sweet, united front in the flick, which even saw them indulge in a bit of PDA.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released the video as part of the inaugural Global Ministerial Conference on Violence Against Children in Colombia. Their virtual participation comes on the heels of their visit to the country in August.
They showed off their coordinating couples' style while appearing side by side. The royal couple matched in dark blue blazers, Harry's over a white button-down shirt, and Meghan's over a black T-shirt. They each accented their preppy ensembles with a poppy pin, a meaningful pin traditionally worn in November to honor fallen British troops.
"The first ever ministerial conference on ending violence against children comes at a crucial time, and quite frankly, should not be required, but, here we are," Harry began. "We are at a crossroads where the urgency to reassess and redefine our approach to protecting children has become increasingly evident. While the necessity has always been apparent, it is now time to translate that awareness into meaningful action."
Meghan continued, "My husband and I recognize today's reality is marked by greater connectivity and advanced technology, which of course has many positives, but which also compels us to better understand how digital violence against children is manifesting itself in this age. At the Archewell Foundation, we engage with young people, families, and experts worldwide learning how every aspect of a child's life—from their livelihood to their physical and mental wellbeing—now operate within an online economy that has the power to both shape, and misshape, our connections."
Harry went on to speak about launching The Parents' Network, a support network for families dealing with online harm.
"Through trauma-informed practices, we help parents come together to forge strong bonds, offering healing support through community with the ultimate goal of prioritizing safety at the source," he said.
Meghan added that speaking with parents through the initiative has helped them gain the knowledge to better equip parents and caregivers, establish norms around the use and access to technology, and establish standards that prioritize children's safety.
Harry concluded the video with a strong message: "Young people are calling for help. Families are desperately seeking support. They are urging us to leverage the resources in this room to confront the new reality our youth are facing," adding that he is grateful for the leadership, actions, and discussions to come out of the conference.
Meghan thanked viewers, saying, "Together, we can harness this moment to drive lasting change," as her husband sweetly slipped his hand around her waist.
Harry and Meghan are, of course, parents themselves. They share 5-year-old son Archie and 3-year-old daughter Lilibet.
