Prince Harry's one request when he stays at a hotel

It’s been revealed that Prince Harry has one specific request every time he stays at a hotel - and it’s much more important than simply wanting a quiet room.

According to one of the Duke’s polo buddies, Harry has been known to crack down on a hotel’s overuse of plastic.

In an interview with CBS This Morning, Argentinian polo player Nacho Figueras recalled a time Harry actually told a hotel it was using too much plastic and should try to cut down.

“He talked to a person [at the hotel] and said, 'This morning I got my coffee and I saw that you have a plastic thing on the coffee. And then I also sent my shirt and I got my shirt in a big plastic bag’,” Nacho said of a time he and Harry stayed a night at a hotel before a game.

“So that's this guy, okay. I don't like to talk about that at all, that's who he is. That's who they are. No plastic.”

A conscious couple

Meghan has also been known to do her bit for the environment as well.

The Duchess thrust sustainable fashion into the spotlight after rocking a pair of black pumps on a Melbourne beach during the couple’s visit to Australia last year, that were made from recycled plastic bottles fished straight from the ocean.

A lesson from Prince Charles

It’s no surprise Harry is so environmentally conscious given his father, Prince Charles, is an outspoken advocate for combatting climate change.

Charles revealed in an interview late last year he’s worried over the impact of plastic waste on the planet and how it could affect his grandchildren.

During the Ghana-leg of his west African tour in November 2018, Prince Charles gave a speech about the threat of climate change, rapid urbanisation and depletion of resources at the plastics event.

“In such an uncertain and changing world, none of us can know what kind of a planet our grandchildren, and great grandchildren, will inhabit, but the Commonwealth, it seems to me, offers us a vital mechanism to help ensure that it is not poisoned and polluted and that its vitality is not compromised,” the prince said.

“Therefore, we owe it to them – and to every one of our 2.3 billion fellow Commonwealth citizens – to renew and strengthen the partnerships between us, and use them to give life to the aspirations of each generation.”
