How Harry and Meghan were snubbed by palace officials in royal parade

It was one of the biggest days of the year for the royal family but according to one royal commentator, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were snubbed at the Trooping of the Colour,

From the outside, everything seemed peachy in the House of Windsor during Saturday’s procession at Buckingham Palace.

All the Cambridge kids looked thrilled to be on the royal balcony, a Givenchy-clad Meghan Markle was back from maternity leave and she even rode in a carriage with Kate Middleton.

But according to Jane Barr, who writes the From Berkshire to Buckingham blog, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s placement in Camilla and Kate’s carriage was the palace’s way of sending a clear message to Harry and Meghan about their spot in the royal pecking order.

On her blog, Jane spoke about the surprising carriage seating plan, saying the Duchess of Cambridge and Camilla were facing outwards, while Harry and Meghan were left looking away from the crowd and most notably, out of direct line from photographers.

“Putting the Sussexes with Kate and Camilla, in the "B seating," was definitely deliberate. The Palace was highlighting its major players, its two future Queens, and without being inflammatory, deliberately shifting the spotlight away from the Sussexes,” Jane wrote.

“The Palace was making a statement--perhaps as much to Meghan and Harry as to all of us. I have said this before, but I will repeat it: you can't fight the Palace.”

Indeed it was a surprising turn up for the books, especially considering the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were seated in their own carriage last year, just weeks after they married at Windsor Castle.

Many have pointed out that Prince Harry was obviously annoyed with how things played out this year and couldn’t hide it, with his downcast face saying it all.

Meghan on the other hand was pictured beaming throughout the whole day, despite being shuffled to the back of the crowd on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

The Queen and Prince Charles took their places at the front, as expected, with William, Kate and their brood standing directly to Charles’ side – a not-so-subtle nod to the line of succession.

Whereas on the other side of the Queen stood her third child Prince Andrew, followed by royal kids Viscount Severn, Isla and Savanna Phillips and their parents Peter and Autumn Philips, while Meghan and Harry were tucked in behind Andrew.

The positioning did not go unnoticed on social media, with many royals fans confused at why Harry could hardly be seen.

One person made reference to the widely reported ‘feud’ between William and Harry, and noted the fact that the Sussexes were also standing very far away from the Cambridges.
