Walking found to beat sweet cravings
Save your waistline and slip on your trainers instead. According to new research published in the journal Appetite, a brisk 15-minute walk can curb even the strongest chocolate craving.
The exercise was shown to reduce cravings by half, even in a stressful work environment when people are more likely to reach for treats.
“Focusing on walking can distract your mind from thoughts of sweets,” explains Dr Hwajung Oh, the study’s co-author. “It may also help by reducing stress and boredom, both of which have been linked to cravings.”
Even better: it’s also an easy way to clock up a little extra incidental exercise. Now that’s what we call multi-tasking!
