Presenting: All the Evidence That Selena Gomez Is Working on New Music

I don't need to tell you that it's been WAY too long since we've heard music from Selena Gomez. Since releasing her standalone single "Love On" in February 2024, Sel has made multiple comments suggesting that she's taking a step back from music...but now it seems the hiatus may be coming to an end. On January 22, she dropped this very 👀 IG Story, and fans can't help but conclude that she's back in the studio.

This isn't the first time she's teased new music, either. A few days earlier on January 17, her fiancé Benny Blanco made a TikTok in response to a fan, who wrote, "Benny please make some new songs for our queen." In the vid, he opens a door to reveal Selena sitting in front of a recording mic, which is pretty telling, IMO.

You might recall that back in January 2024, Sel first sparked rumors that she was retiring from music after an appearance on the SmartLess podcast...or, at least, taking a break after her next album. "I do feel like I have one more album in me but I would probably choose acting," she said, noting that she was "tired" of juggling two careers.

She later clarified her comments, telling Rolling Stone in March, "It’s not that it’s 'no, never' [to music]. It's more that I would like to explore that world a bit more and have the time to actually do that."

Most recently, Sel told Variety in October she had no plans to make any new music...but wasn't opposed to doing returning to that world. "I currently don’t have any [new music], but I will say music is going to always be a part of me," she said, adding, "So I don’t think any movements are happening right now, but it will always be in my life."

All I know is that I'm *very* ready for SG4...especially if Benny is involved! In the meantime, I'll be watching this on repeat, thx.
