Pregnant Meghan Markle admits to being 'tired' on day two of royal tour
Just hours after touching down in Australia to embark upon their first international royal tour, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they are expecting their first child together.
Their schedule is jam-packed with 76 engagements in 16 days in four different countries – Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.
And after two very demanding days, Meghan Markle, who is said to be four months along in her pregnancy, has admitted she has been feeling “a bit tired”.
During a visit to Mountain View farm in Dubbo, New South Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex met with the Woodley family, who have been farming there for five generations, to hear about the hardships they have faced during the recent drought.
As they all gathered for tea in the garden, it was the first and only member of the sixth generation of the family who stole the show, 13-month-old Ruby Carroll.
Later on Meghan chatted with Ruby’s mother, Emily Carroll, about how she was feeling so far on her first royal tour.
“They both had a little tickle with her [Ruby],” Mrs Carroll said, according to The Telegraph. “She’s normally in bed at 10.30am but we had to stay up for this. She’s done so well.
“Meghan told me that she’s feeling pretty good so far, which is great, and that she’s running on adrenaline.
“She said they’re doing 76 engagements in 16 days, with maybe one rest in the middle.
“She’s made for this royal business, isn’t she?”
Mrs. Carroll also added Meghan and Harry were “both great with kids”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Dubbo visit
Earlier in the day, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex met five-year-old schoolboy Luke Vincent, who was overjoyed to meet the royal couple.
He’d been waiting for the royal couple for hours, and in a heartwarming moment, the kindergartener dove straight in for a cuddle with Harry as the royal bent down to greet him.
The young boy, who has Down syndrome, was fascinated by the Duke of Sussex’s scruffy beard, and he reached in to touch it before presenting a pregnant Meghan with a some flowers and a hug.
According to Luke’s mum, he “loves” beards.
“Luke’s favourite person is Santa Claus, isn’t it?” she told 7News, to which Luke replied, “Yeah, Santa Claus.”
Mrs. Vincent admitted she was slightly concerned after Luke “jumped up” on Harry, as she was told there was a “no touching” rule around the royals.
“I was very concerned once he started rubbing Prince Harry’s face and his hair, but Prince Harry was completely gracious,” she said. “And was so polite and realised what was happening and his infatuation with his beard.
“We can only thank him so much for treating Luke with such respect.”
