Sibling present for baby brother's birth

When I was pregnant with our second child, my husband, Carey, and I decided we would like our 5-year-old son Finn to be at the birth. We tried to prepare him by watching birth videos on YouTube together and talking about the sounds Mummy would make.
Three days after my due date I went to bed as usual and at 2.30am the contractions started. I woke Carey straight away. The next contraction came quickly, so I took my bags to the door, lit my oil burner and strapped on my TENS machine.
Carey phoned the hospital while my mum, who was staying with us, dressed Finn. Within half an hour we were on our way to the hospital.
When we arrived, we set up our music and my birthing chair, and prepared lots of cold face washers.
I was breathing in calming oil while Carey and Finn cooled me down with the face washers. Mum controlled my TENS machine and talked me through each contraction.
When the TENS stopped helping with the pain, I got into the birthing pool. The warm water was a huge relief and I could relax between each contraction. I felt like I wanted to push, but at only 8cm dilated I was told to blow instead. I must have been really loud at this point, because I can remember Mum explaining to Finn that I was blowing like Superman.
Mum took Finn out of the room, as I was struggling to cope. The urge to push was overwhelming, so I got out of the pool and the midwife tried to move the lip of my cervix out of the way. It didn’t work.
I got back in the pool and couldn’t help but push. Carey said he could see the head, so I reached down to feel our baby and that gave me the strength to keep going. The midwife pulled the plug out of the pool and Carey yelled out to Mum and Finn to come into the room.

Poor Finn had his fingers in his ears to block out my moaning while our son Thai was born into Carey’s arms. It was a beautiful family affair and after Thai was checked over (3.7kg and 53cm) we sat in the room and marvelled at the latest addition to our family and the miracle of birth.
