Week 15 of your Pregnancy

You

You’re probably seeing your midwife or doctor every four weeks or so and you’ll keep doing this until the last eight weeks of your pregnancy. At these visits, you’ll have the chance to hear your baby’s heartbeat and you will have your blood pressure checked routinely. You may have decided to have an amniocentesis, if so the test usually takes place this week. (Amniocentesis is a test that involves taking a sample of amniotic fluid, which contain some of baby cells, and examining it for specific chromosomal abnormalities.)

Baby

Your little baby is about 9-10 cm and weighs around 50 grams – that’s about the size of an avocado. He’s heading into a a big growth spurt over the next few weeks when he will double his weight and add centimetres to his legs. Tiny bones have formed in his inner ears by now, so practice chatting and singing away to him as it won't be long before he can hear your voice.
