Pizza Hut Is Giving Out 1 Million Free Pizzas to Readers in Honor of Book It! Program’s 40th Anniversary
The deal is available all October (or until one million pizzas are redeemed) in honor of the pizza chain’s reading program and National Book Month
Bookworms are getting a cheesy treat.
Pizza Hut is giving away one million free personal pan pizzas in honor of the 40th anniversary of its Book It! program: a reading initiative for students. Whether you are in or out of school, pizza lovers of all ages can score the freebie.
Customers can snag their free six-inch pizza with a purchase of $8 by plugging in the promo code "BOOKIT40" when ordering online. The deal is available for the month of October (or until one million pizzas are redeemed) in honor of the pizza chain’s reading program anniversary and National Book Month.
Pizza Hut started Book It! program back in 1984 and estimates that more than 1.5 billion pizzas have been given to readers through its initiatives. In the last 11 years alone, the pizza chain has given away 56 million personal pan pizzas, per a press release.
Other than the pizza offerings, the program has worked to enhance the reading opportunities for students across the country, such as offering discounted or free books to educators in Title 1 schools.
Taco Bell has other cheesy goodies right now. The Big Cheez-It menu items are back at the fast food chain.

Taco Bell and Cheez-It are collaborating again with an XL cracker (16 times the cracker’s usual size!) after their limited run in June, which included a Crunchwrap Supreme and Tostada.
As of Sept. 20, the Big Cheez-It will be available to purchase solo for $1 so customers can “craft their own cheesy innovations at home,” per a press release.
Plus, the Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme got a makeover since it was last available. The menu item has the usual Crunchwrap ingredients — beef, nacho cheese sauce, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream — but now has two Cheez-Its in the middle instead of just one. The item, which is wrapped in a grilled flour tortilla, costs $5.50.
The Big Cheez-It Tostada uses the jumbo cracker instead of a crispy tostada. The Cheez-It is then topped with beef, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream and goes for $3.
