Ree Drummond is traveling down memory lane before she becomes a grandma.
In June, the Pioneer Woman star’s eldest daughter Alex and her husband, Mauricio Scott, announced that they are expecting their first child. While she isn’t due until early next year, Alex, 27, has been in full preparation mode – including arrangements for her baby shower.
On Sept. 25, she shared a video to her Instagram Stories panning over adorable throwback photos of herself as a baby.
“Rounding up old baby pictures for my baby shower & dreaming about what bby girl will look like 🥹,” she captioned the post.
In her next Stories, Alex shared a photo from almost 30 years ago when Ree was pregnant for the first time with her. (Ree and her husband Ladd also share kids Paige, Bryce, Todd and Jamar.)
“@thepioneerwoman at her baby shower when she was pregnant with me!❤️” she wrote over the photo.
In the snap, the Food Network star rocked a sleek bob and floral red dress. In her own repost of the Story, Ree gave a nod to her go-to style choice.
“Floral dress energy even in ‘97,” she wrote.
In a June interview with PEOPLE, Ree recalled the moment she found out she was going to be a grandmother.
“Gosh, it feels totally different than I thought it would feel,” she admitted. “Since we just kind of became empty-nesters, Ladd and I feel like we just finished raising our kids — not even finished! A couple of them are in college, so we're still raising our kids.”
Alex and Scott celebrated three years of marriage on May 1. Even still, Ree said she wasn’t expecting to assume the granny role so soon.
“We weren't necessarily in a big rush to enter the grandparent stage,” Ree laughed to PEOPLE. “I thought when I heard the news eventually, whenever that would be, that I would feel more, ‘Oh no, here it comes.’ But instead, what I think about most is — this is my honest answer — just how happy I am for my daughter and her husband.”
This special moment for their family has also brought on lots of nostalgia for Ree.
“Thinking back on the days when my kids were babies and those years, I mean, I can hardly look at old pictures because it was just such a precious, fun time,” Ree says. “I'm just so happy that she is going to enter into that period of her life. There's just nothing better in the world.”
