Pillow slides are all over TikTok and they’re just what we need this summer.

Also known as cloud slides or pillow slippers, these unashamedly ugly shoes make up for what they lack in beauty with the fact that they’re so unbelievably comfy.

As one TikToker put it, “They are literally the ugliest things I’ve ever seen in my life, but it’s fine because I promise, I’ve never tried on a more comfortable pair of shoes ever.”

“Quarantine may be over but my love of ugly, extremely comfortable footwear is not,” says another TikToker who adds, “I know the world’s opening back up again, but please, can we just never go back to heels, like ever?”

One person commented saying: "So comfy", while another simply said: "Obsessed".

Lightweight and flexible, pillow slides are made of EVA - the rubber-like material lots of comfort insoles are made of - which cushions and supports your feet while you walk.

They’re also non-slip and have drainage holes making them perfect for the pool or beach, although lots of people buy them just to bum around the house.

Where to buy pillow slides in Australia

Most people on TikTok have been buying their pillow slides from Amazon as they’re significantly cheaper than the original Pillow Slides and Cloud Slides brands and are essentially the same thing.

However, these are hard to find on Amazon Australia if you don’t want to pay $20 in international shipping.

Fortunately, there are a few local options for Aussie shoppers including a pair from Itno available at Platypus Shoes.

The unisex design comes in a trendy sand or chocolate colour and retails for $60.

Dick Smith also has a version for just $19 in black, light pink, orange, yellow or blue, however we ordered a pair to test them out and they're not as flexible or as comfortable as TikTok says. The sizing also runs very small so consider ordering a size larger than your usual if you want to give them a try.

A similar style by Truffle Collect is on sale at ASOS for $20 and has positive reviews.
