“I wanted to take that post-surgery humiliation — that saddest moment for every pet — and twist it into something beautiful and majestic,” Au says in her book, according to CNN. “I wanted to take the shame out of the cone.”

To create these cones, Winnie reached out to designer Marie-Yan Morvan, and the two came up with some unique looks.

Winnie shared with CNN that each dog inspired the concept of these cool cones.

“If I saw a dog with a unique look, I’d share it with Marie-Yan, and we’d try to figure out how we can build a cone that complemented their look,” Winnie told the outlet.

There are some really fun behind-the-scenes looks and final photos on Winnie's social media, and people love how amazing the cones are and how beautiful the photography itself is.

The book contains more than 125 photos, and the mix of dog breeds and collars shows just how creative this project is. Winnie shared with CNN that she wanted the photos of every dog to have a regal feel.

“I always want to show dogs in this majestic, regal way, kind of elevate them and treat them the way people have traditionally photographed and done portraits of humans,” she said, adding that this project is “my love letter to all the good dogs out there.”

"One of the things I loved most was working with different breeds, sizes, and types of fur. People vary, of course, but there's a far more vast range between a teeny, tiny dog and a giant one," she told BuzzFeed.

Why Do Dogs Need to Wear the 'Cone of Shame'?

It's kind of sad to see a dog in a cone, not only because we know they've been injured or undergoing something that's bothering them but also because the dogs always look so sad.

The "cone of shame," which is really called a recovery cone, was designed to prevent dogs from licking surgical wounds.

"While these cones are not very fashionable and make the dogs sad," according to PetMD. However, they're very important to wear.

Per WebMD, "Though pets don’t always enjoy wearing the recovery cone, it’s for their safety and benefit. The recovery cone is only a temporary measure, whereas not wearing the cone can lead to infection, worsening of an injury, or damage to a surgical incision."
