Ariana Grande seems to have everything that really counts to be popular at the Oscars — including the support of Pete Davidson.

The Saturday Night Live alum told PageSix that he's rooting for the pop star, to whom he was engaged in 2018, to win the Academy Award for Wicked. "I hope she wins the Oscar, I hope she takes the gold," Davidson said. "When we see each other, which is few and far between, because we’re not in the same circles, it’s all love."

Davidson and Grande began dating in the spring of 2018, and the actor got a tattoo of a bunny mask akin to the singer's Dangerous Woman album cover shortly thereafter. The couple got engaged that June, and Grande released the song "Pete Davidson" on her album Sweetener in August. The couple ultimately called off the engagement in October 2018, and Grande gave Davidson a shout-out on her single "Thank U, Next" in November.

Elsewhere in the PageSix interview, Davidson said that he cried while recently rewatching his audition tape for SNL. "The innocence in my eyes made me so sad," he said. "Showbiz is so tough, and I didn’t know how tough it was… I picked the wrong business to have a mental illness and go into. I'm one of the most insecure and sad people ever, and I picked the most insecure, sad business to go into."

The comedian, 31, also said that he sometimes struggled to connect with his fellow cast members on SNL, as he joined the show when he was only 20 years old. “Everyone was 10-plus years older than me and I had a hard time fitting in. No one was mean, but there was an age difference," he explained. "They were getting married, having kids and I was like, 'Do you guys want to come over to play video games?!' So I hung out with Lorne [Michaels]."

Grande received her first Oscar nomination for portraying Glinda (f.k.a. Galinda) in Wicked. She's up against Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist), Isabella Rossellini (Conclave), and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez) in the Best Supporting Actress category.
