The Majority Of The World Thinks This Pie Was Half-Eaten, But Gayle King Swears It's Just Been Jostled During Delivery — Now, I Need To Know What You Think
Gayle King, you should've taken this one to the grave, babe.
Earlier this week, Gayle introduced CBS Mornings' viewers to #PieGate — an incident involving the talk show host, a food delivery, and an obliterated piece of pie.
"I ordered a delicious coconut custard pie," Gayle explained while showing the audience what she was expecting to receive. "This is what it's supposed to look like, with creamy egg, custard filling. Now, this sounds good."
But when she opened her delivery, she was shocked to discover her dessert looked nothing like the company's advertisement.
"So that's what I ordered," Gayle added. "This is what I received. I sent this picture to the company to complain about how it arrived."
"I wondered if it had been eaten or just jostled during delivery because it was such a mess. The company said they were mortified."
Gayle refused to reveal the name of the company because she's still a big fan of them; she even placed an order with them the morning of this broadcast. After filing her complaint, even the company told her that the pie looked like someone ate it and they thought it might have been her doorman.
But Gayle shut down the accusation, revealing she really liked her doormen and had a great rapport with all of them. Gayle then asked her co-hosts what they thought of the ordeal, and they all had a similar view, which ranged from, "It looks eaten," to "It looks half-gone."
When asked what she ended up doing with the pie, Gayle's answer left everyone speechless: "I ate it." But the silence didn't last long, because it was then followed by echoes of "EWW!"
"I'd been thinking about it for three days," Gayle confessed. "I hadn't had a sweet in three days, and I just couldn't believe this company would send me something that was half-eaten."
"I did not think it had been eaten. I honest to god thought it had been jostled, until I started asking people."
Here's how people online reacted:
Now, I've heard of the 5-second rule when it comes to food, but this takes things to a whole new level.
