Patrick Mahomes Speaks Out Following Backlash Over Wife Brittany’s Controversy With Taylor Swift and Donald Trump
On Sept. 10, Taylor Swift shared her long-awaited endorsement of Kamala Harris for president, not long after her friend Brittany Mahomes got backlash for liking posts about former president Donald Trump. Now, Brittany's husband, Kansas City Chiefs player Patrick Mahomes, shared his response to the situation.
Mahomes was asked about his thoughts on Trump's public comments about Brittany during a press conference on Wednesday, Sept. 11. He said, "I think at the end of the day it's about me and my family and how we treat other people."
"I think [what] you see is that Brittany does a lot in the community, I do a lot in the community to help bring people up and give people other opportunities to use their voice," Mahomes went on.
He then succinctly summed up his position, saying, "In the political times, people are going to use stuff here and there. But I can't let that affect how I go about my business every single day and live my life."

Mahomes also outright stated that he wouldn't be endorsing a presidential candidate, instead imploring people to register to vote and research their candidates.
Many fans praised Mahomes for his response, with comments on X saying, "I feel like he answered this in the best way possible and showed true class," and "Exactly the right answers. I wish more athletes and other celebrities would do same."
The situation started at the end of August when Brittany was spotted liking posts on social media about Trump's campaign policies.
She was quickly criticized and later posted the message, "I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood. There's no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well."
After this, fans of Swift commented on her close friendship with Brittany, wondering if this would affect their relationship before seeing the two women hug at the US Open.
Neither Swift nor Brittany has directly commented on the state of their friendship or the latter's political beliefs and connection with Trump.
