Panda Express Just Introduced 5 New Menu Items
We didn't see this coming.
We get it. Sometimes, when the craving for Chinese food hits, you want your tried-and-true favorites. Dishes like orange chicken, scallion pancakes, or crispy egg rolls. Other times, you may want to shake things up a bit and try something new. Panda Express, the American Chinese food chain that’s famous for its Orange Chicken (which accounts for about half of what Panda Express sells) and Chow Mein, just introduced five new menu items that strike a perfect balance between something new and something healthy.
The New Panda Express Balanced Protein Plates
Sure, it’s fun to go to a Chinese restaurant or order delivery and scarf down nothing but fried rice and crab wontons, but it’s not particularly a nutritionally balanced meal. That's why Panda Express is teaming up with nutritionist Kylie Sakaida, MS, RD to create five wholly balanced meals, designed to fit various dietary needs and lifestyle goals. These dishes are protein-heavy while also including plenty of carbs and fiber to fill you up.
The Panda Express Balanced Protein Plates include:
Double Protein Plate: Double grilled teriyaki chicken with half white rice and half Super Greens as sides
Bold & Flavorful Plate: Kung Pao chicken and Black Pepper Sirloin Steak with Super Greens as a side
Power Packed Plate: Black Pepper Sirloin Steak and Broccoli Beef with Super Greens as a side
Protein & Fiber Plate: String Bean Chicken Breast and Kung Pao Chicken with Super Greens as a side
Harmonious Macros Plate: Grilled teriyaki chicken and Broccoli Beef with Super Greens as a side
The good news is that the Panda Express website doesn’t indicate these new items are only available for a limited time, so they seem to be a permanent addition to the menu. The not-so-good news? The website indicates that they are only available online so they must be for takeout or delivery only. So, if you have to eat it at home, maybe you'll be motivated to put on your sneakers after your nutritionally balanced meal and to take a few laps around the block to keep the healthy vibes going.
