Taylor Hill wearing the pageboy cut.If you've been considering chopping your hair, this is the year to do it. From the edgy bixie to the sophisticated classic bob, shorter-length strands are taking over one head at a time. With Beatles mania poised for a comeback—courtesy of the casting reveal of the upcoming biopic series—there's a new-old hairstyle that's making a triumphant return: the pageboy bob.
Nostalgia, beauty, and fashion go hand-in-hand, and what was overwhelmingly popular in the '60s inevitably comes back in trend at some point. Even Princess Diana was a fan of the style (which is also currently trending as the pageway and pagegirl style). "This hairstyle has always been so versatile and timeless," shares hairstylist Sheila Guillermo. "With its ease of style, it gives a very elegant but edgy look."

What Is the Pageboy Bob?
The pageboy bob—which has also been referred to as a "bowl cut"—is an ear-to-shoulder length hairstyle with a rounded silhouette. As Guillermo notes, "The pageboy is usually worn straight with blunt ends that are curled inward."
She adds that the pageway typically is slightly longer in the back and often has a pretty heavy fringe or bang as well. "The inward curls are what give this look a rounded outline to the head," notes the hairstylist.

The Beatles—John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Paul McCartney. There's nothing people love more than a throwback moment mixed with a modern twist. Today's pageboy looks are the perfect example of giving an old style a fresh revamp. "The Beatles took the pageboy haircut and made it so iconic that people decades later are still recreating the look and adding their personal touch to it," Guillermo explains.
And with the recent cast announcement for the soon-to-come Beatles biopic, it's no wonder this style is once again top of mind. As more and more celebrities embrace the style, the versatile look will continue to rise.
What to Ask for at the Salon
With any new haircut, it's important to let your stylist know exactly what you're looking for. That way, you can minimize the potential for any surprises (or disappointment) when you see the finished result.
"Let your stylist know that you’re ready for the modern, rounded pageboy style," advises Guillermo. "The best thing about this haircut is you could do a smooth, sleek blowout or you could rock your natural texture as well," Guillermo adds, so have a conversation with your stylist to decide the best length for you based on your hair type, lifestyle, features, and how you plan to style it.

While the pageboy hairstyle typically involves bangs, it certainly doesn't have to. Make it your own by opting out of the forehead fringe to keep it feeling a bit more casual and understated.
