“Owning Manhattan” Is Renewed for Season 2 — and Ryan Serhant Found a Creative Way to Announce the News
The SERHANT founder repeatedly encounters the number two in a funny video celebrating the new season of his Netflix series
Owning Manhattan is getting a second season, and Ryan Serhant is ready.
Serhant announced that the Netflix reality series, which follows the agents at his eponymous brokerage, SERHANT, was renewed on Tuesday, Aug. 27, with an Instagram video that showed him repeatedly encountering the number two.
First, the Million Dollar Listing: New York alum looks up at a pair of signs indicating that he’s at the intersection of Second Avenue and Second Street. He then sees a vendor selling bottled water for $2.
Serhant is seen brokering a deal on his phone, telling someone, “If we do it on the 22nd, then I’ll do it for $2 million.” When he arrives at his office building, he's sent to the second floor and told he missed a 12:22 p.m. meeting.
The video’s soundtrack fittingly includes the songs “It Takes Two” and “Just the Two of Us.”
Finally, he gets a call telling him that “the people want more” of his Netflix series, and he has the idea to display a billboard announcing season 2 on the building’s roof.
Netflix confirmed the show’s renewal to PEOPLE in a statement that noted, “Owning Manhattan S1 spent one week in the Global Top 10 TV (English). It reached Top 10 TV in 30 countries, and spent two weeks in the Top 10 TV in the United States.”
Serhant told Netflix’s Tudum that the response to Owning Manhattan’s first season, which premiered on June 28, has been “overwhelming.”
“Expectations were so high for the fans, and I knew we were going to give them something unexpected,” he said. “Owning Manhattan is so original, and unlike any other show on the air, and to see people fall in love with it on such a global scale is so insane.”
Serhant added that tensions will be “high” in the upcoming season, and competition is “fierce.”
“Inventory is low everywhere which means there are not enough homes for our buyers, let alone our agents,” Serhant added. “So it’s all-out real estate warfare right now, with a lot of pressure on me as CEO to lead us in the right direction.”
Serhant advised viewers to “invest in a couch with a seatbelt,” teasing, “Turbulence is coming.”

One of Serhant's agents featured on the show, Jessica Markowski, opened up about working for him in a recent interview with PEOPLE.
Markowski called Serhant an “inspiring” leader, and said she “couldn’t ask for a better boss.”
“He understood my angle of how I'm able to generate leads through social media better than any other broker or brokerage would ever understand,” she added. “So having him as a boss, he's very, very, very, very smart and we all look up to him.”
