Winter is unquestionably the season of the boot; it’s as practical as it is stylish. Finding the perfect one, however, can be something of a challenge. The issue isn’t a lack of good options, but the fact that there are so many to choose from. But Oprah just helped me narrow it down.
While filming Oprah’s Book Club this week, she could be seen wearing a caramel-colored three-piece set and matching ankle boots from Vivaia. The knit booties had a sock-like fit—the perfect contrast to her wide-leg pants—and an angular block heel (so chic). Immediately, I wanted to add her nearly-sold out Regina boots to my cart.

Getting Oprah’s stamp of approval is always a big deal, but she isn’t even the first to be spotted in the brand’s shoes. While it might not be a household name yet, Vivaia is already in the closets of Katie Holmes, Selena Gomez, Naomi Watts, and Julia Roberts, who has been spotted in not one but two pairs of its boots: The Melissa ankle boots and the Tara knee-highs.

Sometimes it’s hard to know if a celebrity-worn brand is really that good or (putting on my cynic cap on for a minute) if, perhaps, this is just smart product placement. But Vivaia seems to be the real deal. When Oprah posted that picture, InStyle’s Slack channel blew up. So many of our fashion and shopping writers revealed that they swear by the shoes, too.
One of our editors said that the Abby knee-high boots are “among the most comfortable [she’s] ever worn,” despite their pointed-toe and skinny 2.5-inch heel. She explained that the shoes are made with “a pressure-minimizing insole” and stretchy, non-restrictive material that "accommodates a range of calf sizes.” As someone with a wide calf who finds that most knee-high boots squeeze the absolute hell out of my leg (if they even fit), that detail is major. It’s also worth noting that the stretchy material happens to be waterproof, making the shoes perfect for rainy or snowy days.

Vivaia’s boots “prove that stylish footwear can, in fact, feel good,” she said. Between her glowing review and celebrities’s loyalty to the shoes, I’m now convinced I need my own pair. Fortunately, its boots are available in a range of lengths, colors, and toe and heel shapes, so I’m not going to struggle to find one that fits my wardrobe.
