We’re still two months away from November’s massive Black Friday sales, but Oodie has already started rolling out discounts in its honour.
The Aussie brand is taking $25 off adult and kids Oodies with the code ‘BLACKFRIDAY’, and has up to 50 percent off bundle packs if you buy more than one of the fleecy garments that are a cross between an oversized hoodie and a blanket.
Best selling designs like the koala, avocado and sloth are now $84 instead of $109, as is the new ‘I love plants’ Oodie which sees one tree planted in reforestation projects for every sale.
Harry Potter, Friends and Disney franchise designs like The Mandalorian, Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse are slightly more expensive and are on sale for $104 instead of the usual $129.
The brand has also just dropped four new Frozen prints featuring Elsa, Anna and Olaf in both kids and adult sizes.
A lockdown essential
Made of a super warm flannel and sherpa fleece material, the Oodie has become something of a winter cult buy, particularly as Covid lockdowns have left many Aussies wanting to be as cosy and comfortable as possible while stuck at home.
Incredibly, more than 100,000 Oodies were purchased in NSW in the first eight weeks of Sydney’s current lockdown, which equates to almost 1,800 sales a day.
That’s a sizeable increase on last year’s strong sales which saw Victorians buy over 85,000 of the hooded blankets while they were in lockdown over the colder months.

The brand’s 26-year-old founder Davie Fogerty told Yahoo Lifestyle that recently they’ve had "several days where we garner $1 million in revenue".
However, with winter well and truly behind us in Australia now, focus will be shifting to the global market as demand in the northern hemisphere increases.
Summer version of the winter cult buy
Aussie fans of the brand need not wait til next winter for another Oodie as there is also a summer offering that’s on sale at the moment.
The sleep tee is an oversized nightie that promises the same cosy comfort thanks to a soft bamboo blend material, but without the warmth of the best-selling original.
The prints and colours are fairly limited with only pink, black and grey styles on offer but reviews are positive with shoppers describing them as, “so comfortable and soft” and, “the best night shirt ever!”
