Olivia Wilde has joined the growing number of celebs hopping on the lace-for-fall trend. A sexy alternative to demure fall, which is, of course, currently taking over TikTok, this sartorial trend is all about showing a little skin, in the most sophisticated way possible: by wearing absolutely nothing but a sheer layer of black lace.

Wilde opted for a black lace midi dress while stepping out for the Michael Kors S/S 2025 fashion show during New York Fashion Week at The Shed this week. The dress featured a faux sheer top with black lace layered over a deceptive nude bodice. She wore a pair of extra high-waisted black underwear under the skirt, which was completely sheer lace, showing her legs and panties below. The full lace skirt fell in pleats around her calves and she finished off the look with a pair of black slingbacks and carried a black clutch. She also sported a pair of black Ray-Bans. She wore a selection of gold jewelry by MÉGA, including the Open Cuff Bracelet, the Double Dalmatian Ring, the Eye of the Storm Ring, and the Cigar Band Ring. She wore her hair down and in gentle, sleek waves.

Wilde is far from the first celeb to slip into a lace-y naked dress this autumn—in fact, sheer dresses are officially all the rage. Last week, Meghann Fahy made a bold statement at the premiere for her new show The Perfect Couple wearing a barely there black lace dress by Victoria Beckham that also revealed a pair of black panties below its transparent skirt. Lindsay Lohan hopped aboard the trend this week, wearing a form-fitting maxi dress made entirely of black lace. Then there was Sienna Miller, who put her own boho spin on the trend, opting for white instead of black lace. As for Dakota Johnson, her take on the trend involved a subtle lace-y bodice moment on this silk Gucci slipdress. Meanwhile, Florence Pugh also wore sheer black lace on the red carpet for a New York screening of her new film We Live In Time this Monday. Then there's Katy Perry, who wore a super sheer black lace maxi skirt in July while promoting her upcoming album, 143.

It's official—demure fall or not, the only way to wear the naked dress this season is with plenty of lace.
