Olivia Munn Candidly Details a Recent 'Big Breakdown' as She Navigates Life as a Mom of 2: 'I Was So Distraught'

Olivia Munn is getting candid about being a mom of two.

During an appearance as guest host for Today with Jenna and Friends, The Babymakers actress, 44, spoke with host Jenna Bush Hager about how much her life has changed since becoming a mother of two.

"It is so much fun every single day," she told Bush Hager, before explaining more about how her life specifically changed since welcoming her second child, daughter Méi, with husband John Mulaney. "It's like I just landed on Mars. This is insane. How does anyone do this?"

However, the mom of two admitted to the daytime talk show host that she recently had a "big breakdown" while the family of four was in New York in December.

"We have the baby, who's born in September. John was on Broadway. He was rehearsing all day long and then doing his previews at night for two weeks and ... my 3-year-old was like hitting his limit."

"And it was like screaming and crying, and like saying things to where my feelings were getting hurt," she shared. "He didn't want me to be with my daughter because of the jealousy was coming in. I broke down crying — a cry I have never cried."

"I was so distraught, but then this realization, and I said, 'God willing, we get to work as much as we are working now forever, and God willing we're shifting and jumping around and moving everywhere, and we're so lucky,' " she continued. "And every time there is a breakdown or a fit or whatever, it just makes me laugh so much so that I have to turn away so I don't condone it. Everything makes me really happy."

In addition to Méi, Munn and Mulaney, who wed in July 2024, are also proud parents to son Malcolm Hiệp, 3, whom they welcomed in November 2021. After being diagnosed with breast cancer and having a double mastectomy, the X-Men: Apocalypse actress welcomed her Méi via a surrogate.

One day after the happy news of their daughter's birth was shared on Instagram, a source close to the couple exclusively told PEOPLE, "They are in total bliss with Méi and Malcolm."

"After everything they have been through there’s no tighter, closer little family," the insider added.

On Saturday, March 22, Munn posted a sweet video on Instagram showing off her daughter's new skill — standing on her own. In the new video, Munn could be seen holding her daughter by the arms in an assist as she asked, "Wanna show 'em how you can stand up on your own?" Méi, taking her mom's cue, promptly shuffled herself into a standing position.

Munn then asked her daughter, "What do you wanna do now?" before praising her with a "Good job!"
