“Nobody Wants This” Star Justine Lupe Details Her TMI Bathroom Incident on Set That Ended with Poop Inside Her Dress
"I put the dress on without knowing it was in there and I smeared poop all over my back," recalled Lupe, who stars as Morgan in Netflix's 'Nobody Wants This'
Justine Lupe is getting candid about a less-than-ideal situation she found herself in on set!
The Nobody Wants This star, 35, opened up about an embarrassing moment she once endured on set that put production on pause during a joint interview with costars Timothy Simons and Jackie Tohn.
"I was on set. I had to take a 10-2, which was going to bathroom, number two," she recalled to Bustle in a TikTok video posted by the outlet.
While using the facilities, Lupe said she was interrupted when production "knocked on my door" and "I instinctively, like reflex, stood, then like wiped and realized that a piece of poop had fallen into my dress."
Through bursts of laughter, the actress tried to continue her story as Tohn hilariously attempted to crawl behind Simons after her admission.
"I put the dress on without knowing it was in there and I smeared poop all over my back," Lupe added. "While I was shooting a show, and then they had to wash the dress while everybody waited."
The Succession alum later reposted the video to her Instagram account with an apologetic caption to the streamer, writing, "I’ve lost it. Sorry @netflix."
In addition to Lupe, Simons and Tohn, Netflix's newest rom-com series, Nobody Wants This, stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody. The show consists of 10 episodes and follows sex podcaster Joanne (Bell) and newly single rabbi Noah (Brody) who fall in love. It was inspired by creator and producer Erin Foster's real-life love story.
Lupe plays Joanne's sister and fellow podcaster Morgan in the show, while Simons and Tohn play married couple Esther and Sasha Roklov.
"It's a modern romcom," Bell, 44, told PEOPLE of the show earlier this month. "I love that the characters are what, 38? And that it addresses everything from the perils of dating apps to what it actually means for people with different backgrounds and outlooks on life to bridge those differences in the name of love. It's a grown-up rom-com."
The Good Place alum also opened up about how the script drew her into the project after taking a hiatus from acting.
"I just go with my gut," she explained. "If it seems funny enough and like it would be fun to shoot, it's like, let's do it!"
Bell added that she doesn't "work outside of L.A." in order to be present for her daughters Delta and Lincoln and her husband Dax Shepard. She also makes sure she hustles during the daytime so she can be present for the girls when she's not working.
"The aftershocks affect too many people, so I can't. My husband works here; my kids go to school here. It's not an option for me to leave them, and it's not an option for me to bring them with me without it being incredibly disruptive," she explained.
"I've been practicing trying to say no over the last couple of years, and it's very hard, but I have to remind myself that time is the only non-renewable resource I have," she said.
