Congratulations to Nina Dobrev and Shaun White. After five years of dating, the couple are officially engaged. Dobrev shared the news on Instagram today (captioned with "RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé") and the couple shared the moment with Vogue, explaining exactly how the candlelit moment went down at the Golden Swan restaurant in New York City.

White explained that he thought about popping the question in South Africa next week, when the two would be attending the Earthshot Prize ceremony, but decided not to after their friends joked that it was the perfect place and situation for a proposal. So, White switched up his plan and used the CFDA Awards as a cover. He told Vogue that he had a fake invitation made up that was good enough to fool Dobrev and she was none the wiser. He proposed with a five-carat Lorraine Schwartz ring that he'd hidden in the garage.

"The garage?” Dobrev said of his hiding spot. He only joked back, “I was like, She’s not coming out here.”

Dobrev added that she was wearing head-to-toe Chanel for the moment (she was expecting some face time with Anna Wintour, after all) and that White was in a full Ralph Lauren 'fit. When she arrived at the restaurant and saw the roses and candles, she panicked.

“I went into shock. I just froze and stared at him,” she said. Then, she says, she went, “No.” And then: “No, no, no!

White and Dobrev initially met during an awards show in 2012, but didn't officially get introduced to one another until 2019. After going Instagram official in 2020, the two have become one of the most beloved couples in Hollywood, especially after Dobrev supported her man at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

"Nina's just been so supportive and so amazing through this whole process for me," White told People in January 2022. "Through the pandemic, she was a lifesaver—she really made that time in my life special."
