Nina Dobrev has provided fans with an update after undergoing surgery just a few weeks after her recent bike accident.

The Vampire Diaries alum revealed the accident in a May 20 post on Instagram. The two-part post began with a photo showing the 35-year-old actress posing for the camera while seated on an e-bike. She wore black shorts and a matching sweater for the outing, her eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses as she aimed a small smile at the camera.

As Dobrev revealed in her second photo, the outing ended with her lying on a hospital bed, her left leg and neck in braces as chords and machines surrounded her body. Though she didn’t explain how the injury occurred or provide information on the extent of her injuries, fans were quick to express their concern on the social media platform.

The Degrassi: The Next Generation actress assured fans at the time in an Instagram Story that she was fine but that she had “a long road of recovery ahead,” according to The Los Angeles Times. “I think it’s safe to say my first time on a dirt bike will also be my last lol,” she added.

Earlier this week, Dobrev shared new snapshots of her injured leg, which was still in a brace, as she cracked jokes about “trading in the ‘selfie’ for the ‘leggie.’” On June 5, Dobrev alerted fans to an impending procedure for her leg injury by asking on Instagram Stories if any of her fans ever feel “scared” before surgery as she admitted, “I’m such a baby when it comes to needles, blood or procedures of any kind.”

Despite her anxiety about the planned surgery, Dobrev later updated fans to let them know that it had been successful. In a Wednesday Instagram post, Dobrev flashed a thumbs-up at the camera from her hospital bed. A selfie also included in the post showed the actress wearing a hospital gown and hairnet.

“Surgery was a success 🫶🏼,” Dobrev wrote in the post’s caption. She thanked the fans who had sent thoughtful messages her way and noted, “I have been feeling the support and positive energy. It means more than you will ever know ❤️‍🩹.”

Dobrev’s boyfriend, U.S. Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, was among the first to comment on Dobrev’s post-surgery photos. “WE ALL LOVE YOU,” he wrote.

Several other Instagram users also said they were happy the surgery had been successful and wished Dobrev a “speedy recovery.”
