Nicole Kidman's Vanity Fair cover leaves fans 'shocked': 'WTF is this?'
Nicole Kidman’s fans have been left outraged over her new cover photo for Vanity Fair, with one person asking: “Why is she dressed like a schoolgirl?”.
Vanity Fair released eight covers for their 28th annual Hollywood Issue, with 54-year-old Australian actress Nicole being the first one announced online.
Actors Idris Elba, Kristen Stewart, Penelope Cruz, Benedict Cumberbatch, Simu Liu, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez and Andrew Garfield also got their own covers this year.
Posting the photo of Nicole to Instagram, Vanity Fair wrote: “Presenting our 28th annual Hollywood Issue, starring Academy Award nominee @NicoleKidman. The ‘Being the Ricardos’ star has held the keys to Hollywood for decades, and her latest role as Lucille Ball clinched her a fifth Oscar nomination.
“Still, after 40 years of acting in more than 80 film and TV projects, Kidman says she approaches each role like she is fresh out of theater class. “My whole life is about staying in that place of humility—because you’re either in a place of humility or heading towards it,” she tells V.F.”

Nicole can be seen in the picture wearing a two-piece look by Miu Miu, which features a bralette top with ruffles, a micro skirt, a pair of high socks and slingback loafers.
Fans were less than impressed with the shoot, with one person saying: “She’s an accomplished actress who’s nominated for an Oscar. Why is she dressed like a school girl? Not cool.”
“Would love to hear the concept behind this…cause I don’t get it,” another said.
“One of the most prolific actresses (and also most beautiful) and she is presented as skimpy dressed school girl. In 2022. Who thought this was a good idea ? The mind boggles,” a commenter wrote.
“Nicole Kidman is incredible but this styling is terrible. I’m shocked she agreed to this,” another said.
Others asked Vanity Fair “why would you do that to her?” and another person said: “WTF is she wearing?”.
Nicole’s cover was even hit with Photoshop claims, with one person saying: “How much editing was done to this photo? Wow”.
“Photoshop much?,” another person simply wrote, with another saying: “Barely looks like her.”
The photo had plenty of support from Nicole’s fans though, with people commending the star on how good she looks in it.
“She looks super hot and if she wants to wear that who cares,” one person wrote, with another saying: “She looks stunning”.
