Nicole Kidman's Iconic '90s Curls Just Made an Epic Red Carpet Comeback
Like stepping into a time machine.
Nicole Kidman rose to fame in the '90s and was known back then, aside from her killer acting chops, for her flaming bring orange curly hair. As the decades have passed, the 57-year-old has worn her natural curls less and less—but every now and then, Kidman reminds us that yes, curls still look phenomenal on her, no matter how they are styled.
The actress attended the premiere of Netflix's latest project, Spellbound, in New York City on November 11. For the event, Kidman wore a white floor length gown with a sheer overlay that featured spiral and floral embroidery on the chest, sleeves, and length of the skirt.
For beauty, Kidman's hair was a honey-tinged strawberry blonde shade and was styled to hold large wavy curls worn in a middle part. She completed her beauty look with a splash of terracotta brown eyeshadow worn at the lower lash line, and peachy blush to match the shade on her lips.
The actress has revealed on more than one occasion that she has damaged her natural curls from excessive styling. "I really wanted to have that suntanned skin and long blonde hair," Kidman explained in a 2017 interview with WHO Magazine. "I wanted to conform and be the Aussie beach girl. And I was never going to be that."
Part of conforming meant that Kidman altered her hair texture from trying to achieve perfectly straight and sleek looks. "I wish I had my curls back," she continued. "I tortured them to death. I always say, 'Don't ruin the ringlets!'" Three years later, Kidman still felt similarly, telling The Sunday Morning Herald, "Do I wish that I hadn't screwed up my hair by straightening it all the time? Sure."
