Nicole Kidman's cryptic comment about ex Tom Cruise: 'I was young'
A full twenty years after their split, Nicole Kidman, 54, is offering rare insight into her marriage to fellow A-lister, Tom Cruise.
The pair met on the set of the film Days Of Thunder in 1989 when Aussie Nicole was a 23-year-old rising star and Tom was riding high on the success of Top Gun, Risky Business and Rain Man.
'I was young'
After a whirlwind romance, the Hollywood 'it couple' wed on Christmas Eve in 1990 and were together for 11 years until February 2001 when they announced their separation.
By August, their divorce was finalised with Tom, 59, citing 'irreconcilable differences.'
Nicole was philosophical when reflecting on that period in her life during a candid new interview with Harper's Bazaar magazine.
"I was young. I think I offered it up?" she said.
Tom and Nicole share two children together; 28-year-old daughter Isabella and 26-year-old son Connor. Both children are said to be heavily involved in the Church of Scientology along with their father.

'I've been hurt'
Elsewhere in the interview, cover star Nicole revealed how her previous relationships have shaped her approach to life and love today.
"Maybe I've gotten a bit more trepidatious, but I'm always trying to be as open as possible. I just prefer to live in the world that way.
"I'm wary at times, and I've been hurt, but at the same time I much prefer a warm approach rather than a prickly shut- down approach. My husband, Keith [Urban], says that when he met me, he said, "How's your heart?" And I apparently responded, "'Open."'
Nicole and homegrown country star Keith Urban met in January 2005 and walked down the aisle together the following June.
The couple "really love parenting" their two daughters, 13-year-old Sunday and 10-year-old Faith.
Nicole's 'biggest regret'
On the subject of kids, Nicole opened up about one of her greatest regrets in a candid interview for Marie Claire Australia magazine back in August.
"I wish I’d had more children, but I wasn’t given that choice," Nicole told the publication.
She went on to say that she 'would’ve loved 10' children but is now content to be a mum to her brood of four, as well as her nieces, nephews and godchildren.
"I love mothering, I love kids and what they say: they’re quirky, funny, unfiltered. And then you get to see them grow and send them on their way."
Nicole's eldest child, Bella, 28, is an artist and lives in London with her husband of six years, Max Parker, while 26-year-old Connor is reportedly an avid fisherman and lives in Florida.
